Because "senior" does NOT mean "broken"

Currently available for adoption!

We are very short on seniors available for adoption due to lack of fosters.  We only have 2 foster parents at this time that take on those available for adoption while the executive director keeps the "sanctuary seniors" herself.  If you are able to foster, please consider it and email us at [email protected] so that we can send you a foster application.  Foster parents should be from Hancock, Harrison, Jackson or Stone County, MS.
We are currently trying to get property (EDIT: CLOSING ON PROPERTY IN JULY!!!) to allow us to have a senior sanctuary/hospice home so that fosters won't be as necessary in the future.  We will not be accepting new seniors until this happens unless a foster parent is available - Summer is our last adoptable dog left in foster care that is looking for her forever home!
Anyone who is interested and has their adoption application approved is always welcome to contact the foster parents of these babies to get a clearer picture of who they may be bringing home.
It is suggested that adopters give new adoptions two weeks to determine if it is a good fit or not and if not then UAS will gladly take them back into our rescue if a foster is available.

Thank you so very much for considering to adopt and especially for entertaining the idea of adopting a senior or handi-capable dog or cat - you are already amazing in our book!

Please email [email protected] for an adoption application.

Adoptions will be considered after we have received your filled out application and gone over everything to ensure that this would be a good thing for you and the pet you're interested in (some aren't good with kids or cats, have certain medical requirements, etc), have spoken to your current or past veterinarian to ensure that you are a good and caring pet owner.  This process all typically takes a day or two at the most.

If all is well then we will schedule a meet and greet with the pet of your choosing.  If that meeting goes well for both of you then you get to bring home your new best friend!

Adoption Fees:  Typically adoption fees will vary depending on medical expenses that were incurred at their arrival but are usually no more than $75

*****ALL ADOPTIONS ARE BY APPROVAL OF UNDERDOG ANIMAL SOCIETY - WE WANT THE BEST POSSIBLE HOME FOR THESE ANIMALS WHO HAVE ALREADY BEEN THROUGH SO MUCH.  IF YOU ARE NOT SELECTED AFTER APPLYING THAT DOESN'T MEAN ANYTHING ABOUT YOU - WE VERY CAREFULLY PICK OUT WHO WOULD BE BEST BASED ON A LONG LIST OF WHAT EACH INDIVIDUAL CAT OR DOG NEEDS BASED ON THEIR MEDICAL, PERSONALITY, ETC NEEDS****

Sanctuary seniors! - not available for adoption due to health/behavioral issues but will live out their life with Underdog Animal Society - donations in their honor are greatly appreciated!

Elsa is 18 yrs young - she has some severe heart conditions that have her taking several pills per day.

Very very sweet girl!  Unfortunately due to her heart problems and separation anxiety her medications cost about $122/month.

You could donate on her behalf via PayPal to [email protected] or by going to the home page of this site and clicking on "donate".

Stoche (pronounced Stosh with a hard "o") is about 10 years old and he came in with Precious from the same place- he has a formerly broken jaw and hematoma in his ear that gives him no problems.  His hind legs were also slightly malformed and he is sometimes cautious about his lower back.  Stoche is very sweet and will stalk you where ever you go.  Stoche unfortunately has never fully come around to potty training so has to wear a belly band at all times.  If you would like to donate on his behalf you can via PayPal to [email protected] or this website has a donation link you can use.  All donations are tax deductible as we are a recognized non profit.

Precious is 11ish years young and unfortunately spent most of that time stuck in a very small cage in a puppy mill being bred by force - she was bred so many times that her estrogen levels are permanently raised leading to blood cell issues and anemia.  She is hand fearful which is indicative of abuse.  She has hind leg problems from being kept in tiny cages.
She is very quickly responding to a kind hand though and showing her amazingly funny and sweet side! Due to being a bit "bitey" she is not available for adoption but you can donate to her via PayPal to [email protected] or through this website.
